The November Q & A for Gestalt Students is a complimentary evening so that interested individuals can get a feel for what we are offering.
Following this, an online group (or groups) will form and meet fortnightly for three months. As a group, we will then re-contract about moving forward together.
There will be an expectation that group members commit to this period and a financial payment is required to secure your membership. The fee for the 2hr fortnightly groups will be $40 per person.
Please familiarise yourself with the FAQ's below.

Gestalt group therapy offers participants a novel opportunity to engage in a transformative relational process. Within a carefully nurtured setting, each individual is offered the potential of embarking on a journey of self-discovery. This often entails candidly sharing, authentically expressing, and thoughtfully investigating facets of oneself that might remain unexplored.
By delving into your unique manifestations within the group dynamic you can begin to comprehend your impact on others, and how others impact you. As the facilitator during the therapeutic encounter, I seek to balance engagement through collaborative challenge while remaining supportive: noticing and being present to each individual as they strengthen greater self-awareness and work with whatever arises within the group in each moment.
Q). Do I need to commit to the group sessions?
A). Yes, commitment is required for group cohesion. I ask that you attend two final sessions when you are ready to leave. This ensures that we all end as well as possible, and it respects the dynamic of the group.
Q). Can I turn up to a one-off group to get a feel for what it is like?
A). Generally, the group 'opens' and 'closes' depending on individual needs and group consensus. At the beginning of a new 'course' of groups, interested individuals can drop in and out to acquaint themselves with the process. This will be capped after approx. 3 sessions and the group will continue as a closed group (no new memberships or drop-ins).
In the meantime, it would be ideal to try personal (individual or couples) therapy so that you can begin to understand how gestalt therapy works. This will help you to assimilate into the group dynamic.
Q). Do I need to 'qualify' to be a group member?
A). Yes, it is advantageous to the group's development that participants are suitable. Just because one group isn't right for you doesn't mean that another one won't be. Sometimes the timing may not align, and additional personal therapy may be a pre-requisite. All this requires is a brief chat about your circumstances and needs.
Q). Do I need to be a gestalt client or familiar with gestalt therapy?
A). No, yet, it is preferable because the process will be easier to navigate. However, this can be achieved within the group with responsibility and patience.
